Arts in April
The spring season invokes promising notions of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal and regrowth; it is celebrated around the world through feasts and festivities steeped in cultural traditions. In the Napa Valley, spring marks the beginning of a new vintage, a fresh opportunity for winemakers to create their next masterpiece.
To celebrate this sense of creative possibility, Napa Valley Arts in April will hold it’s 6th annual celebration of the arts in a valley-wide collaborative project promoting local artists, producers and performers. The Arts Council mission is to "enhance beauty and enrich life in the Napa Valley by developing local, regional and national awareness and accessibility to the arts through cultural events and experiences."
The month-long celebration kicks off with the Napa Valley Collects Opening Reception at the Napa Valley Museum in Yountville. This exhibition will feature works from local private collections, including rare works by Joan Miro, Francisco de Goya and Dave Eggers. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.
Our home town hamlet of Yountville will participate with its annual Art, Sip & Stroll event on Saturday, April 16th. From 11AM-5PM, Washington Street will come alive with over 40 local and regional artists sharing their talents with you. For $20, participants will receive a tasting wristband and glass granting access to tasting from over 12 wine stops along the route. All proceeds from wristband sales benefit Yountville Arts and for 2016 and will jump start the fundraising for the "Beyond a Mural" Project to beautify the Highway 29 underpass at California Drive in Yountville. To avoid missing out, pre-purchase wristbands here.
And, of course, Cornerstone Cellars will be pouring our hand-crafted, boutique, artisan wines all day. Our featured artists are Janet Ekholm, Susan Camp and the recycled creations of Yount Street Glass.
The program concludes with the ENGAGE Art Fair April 30th - May 1st at the Calistoga Fairgrounds featuring a curated selection of Napa Valley and Bay Area art, craft and design.
